As part of its 100th year celebration, the Technion has sealed a time capsule containing items that reflect a century of research and innovation. Each department was invited to include a symbol of its scientific journey, and the capsule will remain sealed until the Technion’s 200th anniversary in 2124.
The Faculty of Computer Science chose to preserve a list of its more than 10,000 alumni using a new and meaningful form of data storage: DNA. This technology, which is both tiny and extremely durable, represents a new frontier for storing digital information in a precise, efficient, and long-lasting way. It captures the spirit of the Technion’s contribution to the future of computer science.
The project was led by DiDAX partners Dr. Omer Sabary, Prof. Zohar Yakhini, and Prof. Eitan Yaakobi. For more information about the coding scheme that was used in this project please visit https://github.com/omersabary/Technion100CS
